Hoffenheim ace commits future to club

Hoffenheim have announced Kerem Demirbay has put pen to paper on a new four-and-a-half-year deal keeping him at the club until 2021.

Demirbay, 23, only joined Hoffenheim from Hamburg last summer for a fee reportedly in the region of £2m but he has since established himself as one of the best players in the Bundesliga this season.

The former Turkey U21 international’s performances have even caught the attention of some of the biggest clubs in Europe but he has quashed any suggestions he could leave the club by extending his stay beyond his original deal that was due to expire in 2019.

Hoffenheim were the only unbeaten side left in the Bundesliga until they met RB Leipzig at the end of January and their impressive campaign has largely hinged on Demirbay’s performances in midfield.

Demirbay has secured Hoffenheim’s highest rating in the Bundesliga this season after playing a direct hand in eight goals, as well as completing the most dribbles (33) and joint most key passes (31) for the club.
