Tottenham star to leave for nothing this summer

Mousa Dembele is prepared to run down the last season of his Tottenham contract and secure a big money move to China in the summer, claims The Sun.

The Belgium international has entered the final 12 months of his existing Tottenham deal and does not want to extend his stay in north London.

Tottenham were open to offers for the powerful midfielder in the summer but the likes of Inter baulked at their £30m asking price.

However, Dembele is set to cash in on lucrative wages in China at the end of the season, with Beijing Sinobo Guoan the frontrunners for his signature.

Guoan are managed by former Bayer Leverkusen manager Roger Schmidt and have Brazil international Renato Augusto, Spanish duo Jonathan Viera and Jonathan Soriano and former Villarreal striker Cedric Bakambu on their books.

Dembele is reportedly set to profit £150,000-a-week after tax by moving to China, although Tottenham will also listen to offers when the January transfer window opens.

The 31-year-old has been plagued by a series of reoccurring injuries throughout his career and he has struggled to discover his best form this season.

Dembele has started five of Tottenham’s eight Premier League matches this season, but has only garnered a WhoScored rating of 6.46.

Typically, however, the Belgian has a 100 per cent dribble success rate in the league this term (6/6).
