Arsenal star climbs highest in latest Premier League player form rankings

There may only have been eight matches in the Premier League at the weekend but there was still enough action to see plenty of movement in the player form rankings, with five new faces on this week’s leaderboard, including an Arsenal star on a hot streak.

10) Sol Bamba (Cardiff) - 7.54: Up 11

It was a rotten result for Cardiff on Friday night but Sol Bamba put in another strong display, scoring for a second successive game and producing four interceptions, taking his tally for the latter to 25 over his last six appearances.

9) Joao Moutinho (Wolves) - 7.56: Down 5

The only player on this week’s leaderboard to have fallen from a fortnight ago, Moutinho put in a subdued display by his recent standards against Bournemouth and drops from fourth last time around as a result.

8) Josh King (Bournemouth) - 7.57: Up 1

To call King’s afternoon’s work against Wolves one of mixed emotions would be an understatement, scoring from the spot - and for the third home game running - before missing another penalty late in the game.

7) James Tarkowski (Burnley) - 7.60: Up 17

A key figure in Burnley’s continued unbeaten run, Tarkowski frustrated Tottenham all afternoon, winning nine aerial duels and completing the most clearances of any Premier League player at the weekend, with 14 for the second game running.

6) Alexandre Lacazette (Arsenal) - 7.62: Up 23

Scoring for the fourth game in his last five league appearances, Lacazette is the highest climber in this week’s rankings after a man of the match rating against Southampton, mustering five shots and completing five dribbles.

5) Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace) - 7.69: Up 21

Scoring for a third consecutive Premier League appearance having gone 16 without a goal before hand, Zaha’s performance at Leicester at the weekend was among his best of the season, scoring twice to alleviate the threat of relegation for the Eagles.

4) Isaac Hayden (Newcastle) - 7.71: Up 11

Were it not for injuries to his midfield teammates it’s fair to say Hayden would have left Newcastle last month but the former Arsenal youngster has been excellent when called upon and may just have resuscitated his St. James’ Park career. The 23-year-old’s main job is to protect the back four but he has now had a hand in a goal in four of his last five league appearances (one goal, three assists).

3) Paul Pogba (Manchester United) - 7.77: Non mover

While those around him were dropping like flies against Liverpool, Pogba put in another strong performance, if not capped with a goal or assist this time around, mustering two shots, two tackles and three interceptions.

2) Sergio Aguero (Manchester City) - 8.05: Non mover

With the champions not in league action again this weekend, no player was able to bridge the gap and displace Aguero in second, qualifying having played City’s last league game against Chelsea.

1) Raheem Sterling (Manchester City) - 8.16: Non mover

See Aguero…
