Tottenham duo top Premier League form rankings as Salah and Hazard tumble

With no league action to look forward to this weekend, with the FA Cup third round taking precedent, we assess the latest player form rankings following a midweek round of Premier League fixtures.

10) Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Arsenal) - Weighted rating 7.40

Jumping a huge 35 places following the Gunners’ victory over Fulham on Tuesday night, it was a frustrating night for Aubameyang in the most part, missing a number of chances, but he finally got his goal in a 4-1 win. The striker’s late strike took his league tally to 14 for the season, four of which have come in his last four appearances.

9) Troy Deeney (Watford) - Weighted rating 7.45

Remarkably usurping Aubameyang’s climb up the rankings, leaping 49 places, Deeney was the top performer in midweek, with a WhoScored.com rating of 9.36. The bullish striker gave Watford a 2-0 lead at Bournemouth before setting up the visitors third in a remarkable first half at the Vitality Stadium.

8) Christian Eriksen (Tottenham) - Weighted rating 7.50

Having failed to score in his first 13 league appearances of the season, Eriksen is making up for lost time of late, with his midweek strike against Cardiff taking his tally to four in his last five appearances. The Dane certainly appears to be back to his best and has now had a direct hand in 11 goals this season.

7) Roberto Firmino (Liverpool) - Weighted rating 7.72

Down two this week following a quiet performance by his standards, Firmino netted the Reds’ equaliser at the Etihad Stadium from close range but was otherwise subdued in a fantastic defensive display from the champions.

6) Eden Hazard (Chelsea) - Weighted rating 7.75

Falling out of the top five for the first time all season, Hazard was unable to break down Southampton’s resolve at Stamford Bridge and has now failed to score or assist a goal in three of his last four appearances.

5) Marcus Rashford (Manchester United) - Weighted rating 7.82

With goals in three of United’s four matches under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer so far, Rashford has relished playing in his favoured centre forward position and rises up the leaderboard of the form rankings for the second week running. The 21-year-old’s share price on Football Index has risen from £6.11 to £8.26 since the new manager’s appointment, now among the top ten players on the Index stock market.

4) Ricardo Pereira (Leicester) - Weighted rating 7.89

Undoubtedly one of the most successful summer signings in the Premier League, Pereira earned a third WhoScored.com man of the match award in his last four appearances with an assist for the only goal of the game at Everton. The Portuguese’s performances will surely be catching the eye of some of Europe’s top clubs, so a price of just £1.41 with Football Index, whilst on the rise, is still low right now.

3) Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) - Weighted rating 7.96

Trading top spot with third in recent weeks, Salah is back down to the latter after an abject showing in the top-table clash with Manchester City on Thursday. The Egyptian has still had a hand in nine goals in his last six league appearances but managed just a single shot at the Etihad Stadium, coming in the 84th minute.

2) Harry Kane (Tottenham) - Weighted rating 8.01

Up from fourth to second, Kane scored for the fourth league game running at Cardiff in midweek to join the aforementioned Aubameyang atop the scoring charts. The Spurs star also registered a fourth league assist of the season in the routine victory in Wales as Pochettino’s side bounced back from defeat against Wolves.

1) Son Heung-Min (Tottenham) - Weighted rating 8.03

Having relinquished top spot at the weekend, Son is back at the summit following another superb showing on Tuesday. The South Korea international scored his eighth league goal of the season in the win over Cardiff and registered his fifth assist, with six and four respectively coming in his last six league appearances following a modest start to the campaign.
